My pet PEEVE

SMOKING

i really really HATE it when people smoke. nope its not a tiny dislike but i am really DISGUSTED by it. (note: i am even more irritated by smokers that by people who call people using the smooch sound)

okay at the risk of reapeating all the health education lessons LETS STILL GO THROUGH what is in a ciagrette

okay LOOK AT THE DIAGRAM ABOVE. YOU (should you smoke) are essentially INHALING the things that say we use to KILL insects, the BASE of a bbq pit and oh yes should i highlight the word POISON for you as well?

i think smoking is really one thing that gets on my nerves. People who actually pick up smoking just manage to get on my nerves even more. have u ever seen that gorgeous female or good looking male only to look down and see INSECTICIDE dangling from his fingers? well that is essentially IT when you smoke.

oh dont let me stop here i want to GO ON on the side effects of SMOKING

Immediate effects

  • Smoking one cigarette immediately raises a person's blood pressure and heart rate and decreases the blood flow to body extremities such as the fingers and toes.
  • Brain and the nervous system activity is stimulated for a short time and then reduced.
  • A smoker may also experience dizziness, nausea, watery eyes and acid in the stomach.
  • Appetite, taste and smell are weakened.

Other effects of cigarette smoking

  • Smokers typically experience shortness of breath, persistent coughs, reduced fitness, yellow stains on fingers and teeth and decreased sense of taste and smell.
  • Smokers have more colds and flu than non-smokers and find it harder to recover from minor illnesses.
  • Smoking can cause impotence in men, while women who smoke are less fertile than non-smokers.
  • People who smoke tend to have facial wrinkles appearing much earlier and, in general, look older than non-smokers of the same age.

Smokers have an increased risk of developing:

  • respiratory infections such as pneumonia and chronic bronchitis;
  • emphysema (a progressive and potentially fatal lung disease);
  • heart attack and coronary disease;
  • cancer of the lung, throat, mouth, bladder, kidney, pancreas, cervix, stomach;
  • stomach ulcers; and
  • peripheral vascular disease due to decreased blood flow to the legs.

A person who is dependent on cigarettes may find that they experience withdrawal symptoms when they cut down or stop smoking cigarettes. These can include:

  • increased nervousness and tension;
  • agitation;
  • loss of concentration;
  • changes to sleep patterns;
  • headaches;
  • coughs; and
  • cravings.
oh yes BY THE WAY ONE IN TWO SMOKERS DIE OF THEIR HABIT and IF ITS NOT ENOUGH THAT THEY KILL THEMSELVES THEY HAVE TO AFFECT OTHERS WITH THEIR PASSIVE SMOKE. WONDERFUL.

ha! i just had to say all that its been one of my greatest pet peeves for the longest time and today i just had this sudden urge to blog everything out. honestly think about SMOKING and how will a decision to smoke seem LOGICAL to ANYBODY? spending more that TEN BUCKS to SHORTEN your life. seriously this is one area where i have no patience to tell people nicely or persuade them. HONESTLY, if YOU HAVE A BRAIN STOP SMOKING.
